THOMAS ROBERTSON
3D Technical Artist
My passion for 3D art comes from a passion to learn. There is always some new technology or technique coming out that enables us to create new things in ever more interesting ways. Every project is a path of discovery.

FEATURED WORK

ALTERNATE REALITIES CHALLENGE
This was my submission to Clint Jones' (Pwnisher) Alternate Realities Render Challenge. Given basic mocap and camera animation, the challenge was to create a unique scene for a final looping montage. This challenge tested all of my skills and I learned a lot along the way.
UNDERGROUND
This project is one of my favorites and possibly also the longest to complete. This started as a challenge to recreate a simple photo, but upon completion I wanted to take it further. After making custom tile textures, hand painting grunge, and carefully scattering some trash, I was able to transform a mere creepy hallway into this derelict and almost post-apocalyptic corridor.

ILLUMINATE
Rising from the darkness to illuminate this strange place we now find ourselves in.
This was a very fun but challenging piece to work on, with a focus on growth and illumination. While simple enough in concept, I learned a lot about optimization and compromise to keep render times in check.
LIVING ROOM
This was my first interior scene. After modeling the couch, I really wanted to highlight it in a believable environment. This is where the small touches make all the difference. The small toy overturned in the corner, the plants in the window, the rug ever so slightly angled, are all what bring this picture to life.
